I turned Hacker News top stories into AI art on your wall

The concept is straightforward: every four hours, the most discussed stories from Hacker News are transformed into AI-generated art, optimized for the E Ink display. It’s a visual and intellectual feast, bringing the pulse of the tech world onto your wall in a format that’s both aesthetically pleasing and thought-provoking.

Here’s a glimpse of what it looks like:

The process behind this is both technical and artistic. I fetch top stories from Hacker News, then use a blend of Laravel and Google Cloud technologies to create high-contrast, black-and-white digital illustrations. These visuals are paired with a GPT-3.5-turbo-16k model to summarize the stories in a few insightful sentences.

(If you’re interested here are the prompts I’ve used: “high-contrast black-and-white digital illustration suitable for an eInk display, digital art, trending on ArtStation” for the image and “Summarize the key points in the following text in max 3 sentences as if you’re the author” for the summary.)

I’ve put together a dashboard where you can explore and download these AI-generated artworks. They make for great desktop backgrounds.

I hope you’ll like it! And please do let me know if you have any other ideas for the screen.
